| Story | Ernest Louis dixon-cave was originally born at sea off St John's Newfoundland in 1883 a member of the Canadian merchant navy. He married Polly E Nixon from Bede Terrace East Boldon aged 30 in 1913. Ernest a retired Sea captain served on the SS Starwell, Died 1949. Three times torpedoed in WW1 he had been a ships captain for 25 years before retriring from the sea in 1934 troubled with ulcers on his right leg. He had been awarded the 1914-15 Star and the 1914-19 Victory Medal (107 C-O-Ernest L. Dixon-Cave. M.M.-H.M.-M.F.A.)
