Story"Young Tom was brought up by my Grandparents at Rosslyn, 2 Dipe Lane West Boldon. His Mother Jennnie Kirton (Nee Jennie Tait Robinson) died two days after Tom was born. Tom’s father was my my fathers brother Norman Kirton. After Jennies Death I suppose Uncle Norman would not have been able to look after his new born son so he was brought to live with our Grandparents. I know Tom attended Washington Grammar School before starting work as a Bank Clerk He continued with his banking career eventually becoming a Bank Manager. Tom Married his wife Betty (nee Elizabeth Sandilands) at St Aidans Church Berwick Sep 5th 1949 .They lived in Gordon Drive in East Boldon Their daughter Carolyn Jane (Lyn) was born in 1951 followed by their son Derek. Sadly Lynn tragically died of injuries sustained in a motor accident in 1968. They continued to live in East Boldon till 1965 then moved to Norton and then to Chester-le-Street when he became Manager of a bank in Newcastle Cousin Tom died in 1983 aged 59 and his wife cousin Betty in 2005 aged 87"
