StoryWilliam was born to Edmund b1829 and Isabella b1839 Browell a landowner according to the 1871 census. Brother to Jasper M Browell ? b1865 they lived near the Black Bull Inn. He joined the Army and fought in the Boer war in south Africa in The 21st Battery of the Royal Field Artilliary he Progressed to the rank of Captain having served at Belfast, Cape Colony, Orange free state, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith and Laings Nek. In 1907 he was listed as being promoted to Major a rank he held in WW1 before being promoted to colonel then Brigadier General of the Royal Field Artillery CMG. William died age 64 on Jan 25 1935 New Park Cranleigh in Surry.
